Statement of Need

Parents may hesitate to vaccinate their children for a number of reasons, including misinformation, lack of access, and mistrust in the healthcare community, particularly in underserved populations. Clinicians and nurses in particular are challenged to find ways to discuss vaccination with parents and encourage them in culturally sensitive ways. Specific strategies and approaches to such conversations can assist nurses, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to encourage parents and combat vaccine hesitancy to the benefit of their children and the pediatric community.

In this third activity of this CME Outfitters Snack Series, expert faculty will discuss the strategies nurses can use to have culturally sensitive conversations about vaccine hesitancy with parents and hopefully improve vaccination rates in underserved pediatric populations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:

  • Integrate strategies to combat under-vaccination patterns and improve vaccination rates particularly in underserved pediatric patient populations
