Statement of Need

Reasons for vaccine hesitancy among parents are often unknown to clinicians, including the pediatric and school nurses with whom parents interact. Parents may lack information or have misinformation about the need for vaccinations and possible health outcomes. While vaccine hesitancy can lead to under-vaccination or lack of vaccination, it is imperative that nurses as a part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team understand the myriad of factors that may influence parents’ hesitancy towards vaccination and how to counter objections in vaccination conversations with parents.

In this second activity of this CME Outfitters Snack Series, expert faculty will discuss the causes of vaccine hesitancy so nurses can understand how to tackle compassionate and effective conversations with parents concerned about vaccines.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:

  • Incorporate knowledge of the causes of vaccine hesitancy in clinical conversations with parents who may be vaccine hesitant
