Dengue disease, also known as “breakbone fever,” is both the most common and the fastest spreading mosquito-borne virus in the world, affecting nearly 4 billion people worldwide and contributing to up to 36,000 deaths annually. With clinical manifestations ranging from influenza-like symptoms to shock, internal/external bleeding, and even death, it is imperative that clinicians have the knowledge required to promote prevention, diagnosis, and appropriate management of this condition. However, despite recent local outbreaks occurring in Hawaii, Florida, and Texas, clinicians in the United States remain largely unfamiliar with the diagnosis and management of this disease.
In the first activity of this CME Outfitters Snack series, expert faculty will provide learners with the opportunity to grow their knowledge and understanding of the clinical manifestations, transmission, and exposure risks of dengue disease.
Identify the clinical manifestations of dengue disease factoring in exposure risk.
