Racism is a public health crisis, and health systems play a critical role in addressing social determinants of health (SDoH) and health care provider (HCP) biases to further health equity. All levels of the health system, HCPs and staff from the C-suite to the front desk “gate-keepers”, must be aware and understand the impacts of structural racism, SDoH, and biases on their patient population. Taking these factors into consideration, improving diversity among health systems staff and management, and championing diversity and inclusion are some of the strategies needed to mitigate health care disparities and help make communities healthier.
This CMEOCast podcast will focus on the role of health systems in addressing structural racism and clinician/staff biases and how health systems administrators can integrate best practices to support patients and reduce disparities in care.
