There are several different approaches to treating osteoarthritis (OA), including physical, psychosocial, and mind-body. It is important that primary care physicians work in concert with rheumatologists, physical/occupational therapists, psychologists, and dietitians to create a multidisciplinary management plan for their patients with OA, as well as participating in shared decision-making.
In this installment of the CME Outfitters Snack series on managing osteoarthritis, expert faculty discuss the use of patient-reported outcomes, patient education, biopsychosocial approaches that integrate non-pharmacological interventions for OA, and strategies for engaging patients in their treatment decisions, in order to facilitate proper management of OA.
At the end of this CME/CE activity, participants should be able to integrate pain management tools for individual pain and function assessment, goal setting, and monitoring.
The following learning objectives pertain only to those requesting CNE or CPE credit: identify pain management tools for individual pain and function assessment, goal setting, and monitoring.
Supported by an educational grant from Pfizer Inc.
Physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists.
