Statement of Need

One of the most essential duties of individuals who care for people living with HIV (PLWH) is to ensure that their health care is of the highest quality. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has developed the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) that is the largest quality measurement program in the United States and measures quality across six domains of care and associated scores for health plans. Utilizing HEDIS and other quality measures is particularly important for clinicians who treat PLWH, as deficiencies in care, such as HIV medication adherence or in identification and treatment of comorbidities, can have serious impacts on health and long-term wellbeing.

In this CMEO Snack, expert faculty will share strategies for identifying aligned HEDIS measures pertaining to HIV care, integrating quality measures as a standardized process in clinical practice, as well as documenting the utilization of quality measures to assess impact of quality care on patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:

  • Identify aligned HEDIS measures and NCQA guidelines pertaining to HIV care
  • Integrate quality measures as a standardized process in clinical practice
  • Document utilization of quality measures to assess impact of quality care on patient outcomes
