Precision medicine calls for the delivery of treatment that is informed by important disease features. In the treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), precision medicine refers to biomarkers capable of informing diagnosis, predicting disease severity and activity, and predicting treatment response. Biomarkers are essential for the assessment of mucosal healing, monitoring treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs), and predicting recurrence after therapy discontinuation. HCPs who manage patients with IBD need to be aware of new and emerging biomarkers and imaging approaches that could assist with the diagnosis, characterization, and prediction of IBD.
In this second installment of a CMEO podcast series expert faculty will discuss strategies to better evaluate new and emerging evidence related to biomarkers and imaging that are forging the way toward precision medicine in IBD.
