Optimizing and expanding the use of PrEP in adolescents and young adults requires not only education to improve knowledge about HIV risk and prevention strategies, but also health care professional skills training—and retraining—to improve confidence and performance to open the discussion with a patient about sexual history and HIV risk assessment in order to improve rates of HIV testing and initiation of PrEP.
