Statement of Need

Vaccine hesitancy in parents can lead to under-vaccination or the complete lack of vaccination in children and adolescents. This has been linked to outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. Pediatric and school nurses are often the main source of information for parents regarding vaccination and may be able to influence their decisions and combat vaccine hesitancy. Therefore, it is imperative that nurses, as a part of the multidisciplinary team of pediatric clinicians, understand the impact that vaccine hesitancy and under-vaccination has on all children.

In this first activity of this CME Outfitters Snack series, expert faculty will discuss the impact of parental hesitancy for vaccinating children, and the outcomes of non- or under-vaccination on the health of pediatric populations.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:

  • Identify the impact of vaccine hesitancy as part of under-vaccination in the pediatric population
